RE:Free Books On-Line
The book Picturesque Canada is a unique snapsot of country as it was in 1882. I especially love the section on lumbering in the Ottawa Valley. I have incerted many of the drawings to go along with my narations in my family tree. I cannot get the link to work for Google Books, so I just cut and pasted the link below. Unlike the other links for the book I put on here the Google Books digitization shows the pictures in various shades of blacks, whites and greys, giving the drawings more detail and depth.

* I recommend using the 2 websites below for transcribing the text in the book only; the pictures did not turn out in their pdf version.

The book Artistic Quebec is a unique snapsot of the province as it was in 1882.
It seems to be an excerpt on the above book. Beautiful diagrams.

Rapport de l'Archiviste de la province de Québec from 1920 to 1975 is now online. Anyone who does French Canadian Genealogy often sees references to these periodicals when they are researching their ancestors. It is written in French only, but there is a gold mine of information in them even if you do not speak the language. They are a collection of articles & if you know where to look you can find your ancestor in a census list or a voyageur list. I haven't fully explored this little gem yet but I am chomping at the bit to get at it. They are found in pdf format on the Biblioteque et Archives National du Quebec website.
