HBC Ancestry
I would very much like to participate in a genealogy forum on this site that deals with the descendants of historic fur trade HBC employees who are looking for info on their ancestors. I have a good deal of information to share and expect there are many others out there like me. My own ancestors include Anderson, Ballenden, Gladman, Moore, Mowat, Norquay, Pruden, Renton, Sinclair, Smith, Spencer, Thomas, Truthwaite, and Vincent. Anybody else think this is a good idea?

Hi MartinD,

I think that's a great idea. We often hear from readers that their interest in history began with stories about the fur trade that relatives told them.

I'll set it up later today.

Actually, I've been learning a bit more about setting up these forums and this is the space to continue discussing HBC employees. Chat away!

Just remember, when you want to discuss a particular family, change your subject heading to that name so people can focus on it more easily.

I do not know of HBC connection,

but I come from a long line of courier de bois.

My 7th grandfather Jean Bergevin dit Langevin came over as a soldier in the Kings army to fight the Iroqious in 1645.

He was one of the soldiers that stayed behind

and he married a Kings Daughter Marie Piton.

Have our linage back to France.
